Ingredients
  

Bananas
  • 1 cup ripe bananas, mashed about 2-3 bananas
Sourdough Starter
  • 1/2 cup active sourdough starter
Sugars
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Fats
  • 1/2 cup melted butter or vegetable oil
Eggs
  • 2 large eggs
Flavorings
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Leavening & Salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Flour & Add-ins
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • Optional chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans) if using

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Mix mashed bananas, sourdough starter, sugars, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Whisk baking soda, salt, and flour; add dry to wet, stir until just combined.
  4. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts if using, pour into pan, and smooth top.
  5. Bake for 50-60 minutes, cool in pan 10 minutes, then transfer to wire rack.

Notes

Use ripe bananas for best flavor and mash well for a smooth batter.
