Ingredients
  

Meat and Vegetables
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
Sauce
  • 10.75 ounce condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Topping
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Brown ground beef in a skillet, drain excess grease.
  3. Add onion and celery, cook until softened (5 min).
  4. Stir in soup, milk, salt, and pepper. Simmer.
  5. Pour beef mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  6. Spread mashed potatoes evenly over the beef.
  7. Sprinkle with cheese, if desired.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until heated through and cheese is melted.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use homemade mashed potatoes with butter and cream.
