Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
For Rolling
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar for rolling

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Mix dry ingredients.
  2. Cream butter and sugar, then add egg, vanilla, and almond extracts.
  3. Gradually blend dry ingredients into wet mixture. Roll dough into 1-inch balls, coat in sugar.
  4. Place on baking sheets, bake 8-10 minutes until edges are golden.
  5. Cool briefly on sheets, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For softer cookies, slightly underbake and let cool on sheets.
